VITALI KLITSCHKO has failed in his
bid to become mayor of his native
Kiev.
The former undefeated WBC and
WBO champion's political dreams
suffered a further setback when
early election results suggested
Vitali would not be voted into
parliament either.
PROMOTER Dan Goossen has filed
a protest to the WBC on behalf of
heavyweight JAMES TONEY seeking
an immediate rematch with WBC
heavyweight champion HASIM
RAHMAN. The protest argues that
referee Eddie Cotton allowed
Rahman to land 200-plus illegal
blows, mostly to Toney's left
kidney, during their drawn clash
earlier this month.
If the appeal fails, Rahman will
defend against former conqueror
Oleg Maskaev. Bob Arum, promoter
of Rahman, said he would do
whatever the WBC ordered.
A STANDING room-only crowd at
Ingliston Arena turned the Scottish
Senior Championship finals into a
seething cauldron during the all-Fife
middleweight clash between Jo Jo Lee
(Madison, Kennoway) and Denbeath
banger Daryll Campbell.
