RAMSGATE ABC staged a charity
dinner show at the Winter Gardens
in Margate on February 10. Held with
the Rotary club of Thanet, it raised
a whopping £33,000 for t w o local
charities.
A sickness epidemic - apparently
several local schools shut down - cut
the show to just four junior contests
supported by three Skills bouts.
Upcoming WBU welterweight title
challenger Takaloo attended to support
kid brother Rocky Takalobigashi
(Margate), who faced Lee Ford of
Ramsgate in a battle of debutants
(both around 70 kgs).

LUKE HOWKINS delivered the fourth
and final win for the hosts as Pinewood
Starr staged their second dinner show
of the campaign at the Blue Mountain
Country Club.
The 2004 ABA super-heavy finalist
always had the edge over Cheshunt
heavyweight Kevin Earley, who
was slow to get into his stride.
Not that he was allowed to get into
that stride, because a right hand to the
midriff winded Earley, then a left hook
bowled him over early in the second.

KEVIN FOLEY was star attraction
when his club St Joseph's held a
dinner show at the Coal Exchange
in Cardiff.
Foley had been out of top-class
boxing for 18 months before losing
a majority to LEE SELBY (18) early
in the season.
This time he decisioned the upand-
coming Splott Adventure boxer.
Foley started strongly with
combinations to head and body,
keeping Lee on the defensive.
Selby came to life in the last of
this 4 X 2s, but although he picked
his man off at distance, he failed
to make up the leeway and
dropped a tight majority.
Selby lost to Commonwealth
Games bantam rep Matthew
Edmonds in October's Welsh
Box-Offs.
