GARY DAVIES, the new British Masters
and Central Area super-bantamweight
champ, was a little miffed by our brief
report of his first-round stoppage victory
over house fighter Chris Hooper in
Scarborough last month.
It only made things worse that we
had Gary down as 'Chris'. "It was the
best performance of my life," he said.
"I'd trained for eight weeks, working
out twice a day for six days each week."

CONFIRMED: JUNIOR WITTER will
travel to Italy on April 28 to defend
his European lOst crown against
old foe GUISEPPE LAURI.
Venue is Varese, Italy and Witter
meets a man he destroyed in two
rounds in 2002 but who has lost
just one of 12 since (to Russian
dangerman Leva Kiralcosyan).
Junior's stahlemate ESHAM
PICKERING is over in Denmark
sparring JOHNNY BREDAHL and
could box on the same card as
Bredahl at the end of the month
(•March 30). Ex-champ Bredahl,
returning after bad hands, meets
ALEXANDER FEDOROV at bantam.

JANE BRASHILL (Gallus ABC, Hove)
unanimously outpointed unbeaten
Anna Benson (Natbridge ABC,
Preston) on the March 3 Hastings
West Hill show.
Said Gallus coach Brian Harvey,
"Anna is a puncher, so Janie needed
to be at her best. Janie put on her most
accomplished performance to win in
front of an appreciative crowd."
Brashill hadn't boxed since winning
her ABA middleweight title in May but
showed little rust, added Harvey. He
said she boxed behind a stiff jab to
discourage Benson.
