LONDON-BASED Ugandan-Swede
lightweight Sam " R o c k y " Rukundo
moved to 5-0 (2) with a six-round points
win over Bela Sandor of Budapest.
Southpaw Rukundo, whose four
previous fights have all been in London,
dropped the plucky Hungarian with a
body shot late in the fifth and was well
worth his unanimous win.
Sandor dropped to 7-'56-2 (4).
The same bill .saw former Audley
Harrison victim Richel Hersisia blow
away hapless late sub l o a n Mihai of
Romania at 1-50 of the second.
Unusually, this show was topped by
an all-Danish amateur clash between
local draw Kim Jorgensen and Thor
Claxton, who looked unlucky to lose
2-1 after an exciting four-twos.
A crowd of 5.0(K)-plus turned up. so
promoter Henrik Risum obviously
knew what he was doing.

UGANDAN southpaw Kassim Ouma
(11st lib) came back from losing his IBF
light-middleweight crown to Roman
Karmazin with a win in a lO-rounder.
He forced Chicago's Freddy Cuevas
(11st 0 1 /21b) to retire after four rounds.
Ouma had looked listless against
Karmazin. but maybe the fired-up
Russian had everything to do with that.
Ka.ssim was certainly sharper for
Cuevas, who was down late in the first
and again in the fourth, both from left
crosses. Freddy's corner pulled him out.
Also on this Golden Boy show,
unbeaten light-welter D e m e t r i us
Hopkins outsped E r n e s t o Zepeda,
then bombed him out at 1-07 of the
ninth. It was scheduled for 10.
Olympic light-welter Rock Allen
moved to 3-0 (J) with a second-round
mauling of one C a n d e l a r i o Herrera.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES travelled to
P o r t s m o u t h and beat the Royal Navy
7-1 o n an eight-bout dinner s h o w at
t h e Royal Sailors' Rest o p p o s i t e the
naval base, writes LEE PULLEN.
It was packed t o t h e r a f t e r s w i t h a
crowd of 400.
The excellent m a t c h m a k i n g was
shared by Navy boss Q u i n t o n "Q"
Shillingford and Crawley ABC's George
Brown. All b o u t s were evenly contested,
with four ending in a majority.
J o h n F e r n a n d e s of t h e Golden Ring
club in S o u t h a m p t o n got the visitors
off t o a flying s t a r t with a u n a n i m o us
decision over M n e T r a v i s.
A d a m C u t l e r , also Golden Ring, kept
t h e ball rolling with a h a r d - e a r n e d win
over M n e C h e u n g.
