Brian's softer option
• BRIAN MAGEE'S fourth defence of the IBO
super-middleweight title, in Belfast on October 4
will be against Argentina's Omar Gonzalez, a 31-
year-old non-puncher from Mar Del Plata.
It had been hoped southpaw Magee would be
matched against a leading contender, but Barry
Hearn couldn't agree terms with Canada's Syd
Vanderpool or anyone else high on his "wanted"
list

Tua-Rahman III
 DON KING won the purse bids for the third
Hasim Rahman-David Tua heavyweight fight.
The match will take place in Atlantic City on
December 13 for the WBA's Interim title. Tua won
their first fight, but was floored and held to a draw
in the rematch in January.
