Berbick: More bother
FORMER WBC heavyweight champion Trevor
Berbick, deported to Jamaica from America last
month, handed himself in to police in Kingston last
weekend after it was alleged he had broken into a
neighbour's home.
The 48-year-old, who has a history of brushes with
the law, was charged with breaking and entering and
theft. He was scheduled to appear before a local judge
last Tuesday.

ITALIAN favourite Giovanni Parisi, former 1998 Olympic featherweight
champion, is making a comeback.
The 35-year-old who quit the sport after losing in four to Daniel Santos in July
2000 will box in Italy on February 11, possibly against Spanish light-welter champ
Miguel Angel Pena even though Parisi intends to campaign in the division above.
Giovanni, who from 43 fights scored 38 wins and suffered four defeats (one
draw), is to be promoted by Salvatore Cherchi and his bouts shown live in Europe
on Eurosport. Presumably Parisi is coming back to regain past glories.
He was WBO champion at lightweight and light-welter and in 1995 lasted 12
against a good Julio Cesar Chavez in Las Vegas for the IBF 10st crown. He also
twice beat Brits in title bouts, flooring and outpointing Michael Ayers at lightweight
in April 1993 and knocking out Nigel Wenton at light-welter in October 1997.

SPENNYMOOR Boxing Academy are again on their travels. They
take a team to Canada in May to box the Kitchener (Ontario) club
of Waterloo Police, which was Lennox Lewis' amateur outfit.
The tour is the latest of many for this progressive North East club that puts
world travel at the top of its many
aims for its 18 registered boxers.
