DON KING is facing another
trial for Insurance fraud
after a New York federal judge
refused to drop the charges
against the American promoter.
King went on trial in New
York over a year ago, but the
jury could not reach a verdict.
Judge Lawrence McKenna said
there is sufficient evidence to
permit a retrial.
King was accused of falsifying
a contract with Lloyd's of London
to claim $350,000 in training
expenses for a cancelled
bout between Julio Cesar
Chavez and Harold Brazier in
1991. The 65-year-old faces up
to 45 years in prison and a
$2,250,000 fine if found guilty
of nine counts of wire fraud.
