RICHIE GIACHETTI will
return to Mike Tyson's corner
for his WBA heavyweight title
rematch with Evander Holyfield in
Las Vegas, which now looks certain
to take place in May but the
date has yet to be confirmed.
Tyson's promoter Don King
said; "They have worked well
together in the past and will do so
in the future."
LIVERPOOLS Shea Neary
makes the first defence of his
WBU light-welterweight title
against unknown South African
Jeremiah Malinga in his hometown
on March 1. The challenger
was not in his country's top 10 at
the end of last year, but needs
only to make the WBU's top 100 -
as compiled by the IWBR - in
order to qualify for a title shot. So
much for standards.
RESPECTED Sunderland
super-featherweight Harry
Escott, who was stopped in four by
Dean Pithie at Swadlincote on January
18, says he will have one
more fight.
The 27-year-old, who has had 47
contests, is then off to India for
three months to climb part of
Everest - on a mountain bike!
• TERRY DUNSTAN is being lined
up for a vacant Europecin cruiserweight
title shot after Aklm Tafer
gave up his crown, presumably to
challenge WBC champion Marcelo
Domlnguez.
Dunstan was to have challenged
Tafer, but he has been paired with
the tough, yet limited Frenchman
Patrice Aouissi in Berck-sur-Mer on
February 22.
