BOBBY CZ^'Z. who was one of many former and current champions
at the Holyfield-Moorer fight in Las \egas - others included Oscar
De La Hoya. Carios Palomino. Ralf Rocchigiani. Frankie Liles. Johnny
Tapia and Vince Phillips - had been arrested and charged with
drunken driving after a car accident five days earlier (November 3).
The 33-year-old. who works for Showtime, refused to take a
breathaliser, but his lawyer said the boxer is pleading not guilty.
PLYMOUTH middleweight SCOTT DANN (11st
91bs), who w^ls the English ABA champion in
1996, made a quick professional debut by blasting out
Llanelli's JONATHAN REES (11st 1 libs) in the first of a
four-threes.
Rees, a late substitute, looked as if he didn't have a
clue what to do against a southpaw, and Dann
brushed him aside. Two left hands put him down on
his knees and the Welshman shook his head, plainly
dazed and demoralised.
He got up at six, but couldn't control his legs and
referee Denzil Lewis waved it off after exactly 100 sec-

onds, to the delight of Dann's vociferous supporters.
Another former amateur star, Liverpool light-middleweight
MICHAEL JONES (lOst 131bs), also made a
winning start, but had to settle for a four-round decision
over Worcester's willing and always competitive
HARRY BUTLER (lOst 121bs). Referee Grant Wallis
scored 39 1/2-38 1/2.
Butler, who has lost five in a row but surely will
win one soon, knocked out Jones' gumshield with a
right hand in the third, and fought hard, although
Jones always looked in front, using his height and
reach effectively and forcing the pace.
