JIMMY CABLE'S four-month reign as European
light-middleweight champion fizzled out in beersoaked
Munich.
As the city celebrated its annual festival, Cable
seemed to suffer a hangover from a desperately
gruelling year as he lost a unanimous 12-round
decision to local challenger Georg Steinherr in the
Circus Krone-Bau.

TWO cuts on the left eyelid
brought a premature end to
STEWART LITHGO'S first
fight as Commonwealth cruiserweight
champion.

FRENCH boxing seems to be in a rut. Richard Caramanolis
lost his EBU light-heavyweight title to Alex Blanchard,
and Louis Acaries lost his crown to Tony Sibson. Germain
Le Maitre lost in a challenge for the light-middleweight
title against Herol Graham and then Said Skouma was
stopped by Jimmy Cable for the vacant title.
At welterweight, Gilles Elbilia had to relinquish his
crown and Tek Nkalankete failed in a challenge for the
light-welterweight title against Patrizio Oliva, their lightweight
champion Frederic Geoffrey recently lost his
unbeaten record and Daniel Londas was unsuccessful in a
challenge to Rene Weller.

Kent NABC finals for Dartford
DARTFORD fans are in for a treat on Saturday. October 6 when
Highfield ABC stage the Kent finals of the National Association
of Boys' Clubs championships at Dartford Technical School.
