THE ABU heavyweight champion Proud Kilimanjaro
retained his title before 10,000 fans in Harare's
Rufaro Stadium in Zimbabwe with a points victory
over his fellow countryman Kid Power on July 27.
The "Man Mountain" won the early rounds and
had Power badly hurt in the third, but the lighter
challenger survived and the decision was close
After three-quarters of a century in the business, we have
built up one of the finest photo libraries in the world. The
paper has been represented at ringsides anywhere that
boxing takes place . . . from small halls in the East End to
the multi-million pound extravaganzas at Caesers Palace,
Las Vegas.
Here's a selection of some of our favourites, in no
particular order, spanning the 75 years of our existence. We
hope you will enjoy leafing through our scrapbook as much
as we've enjoyed compiling it.

BERBICK RETAINS NASSAU — September I: TREVOR BERBICK retained his
Commonwealth heavyweight title as he overwhelmed ERNIE
BARR of the Bahamas in the fourth of a scheduled 12-rounder.
The 6ft 4ins Barr came out aggressively and seemed to be doing
well for the first two rounds much to the delight of the crowd of
about 3,000.
But the Jamaican Berbick, now US-based, showed the difference
in class as he opened up with both hands in the third.
It was more of the same from Berhick in the fourth as he landed
with both hands and Barr went down as if unable to take any more.
It was learned later, however, that Barr had suffered a sprained
ankle.
