FORMER world featherweight champion
Barry McGuigan keeps his comeback rolling
with a 10-rounder against world-rated Brazilian
Francisco Tomas da Cruz at Luton football
ground tomorrow (Saturday) writes TIM MO.
Such is McGuigan's popularity that promoter
Frank Warren can go for a big venue setting
even with a fight against a comparatively
unknown and unglamorous opponent.
FORMER Southern Area lightweight champion Abdul
Kareem takes the first step towards regaining his old title
when he meets Finchley's Steve Griffith on a Matchroom
promotion show at the Festival Hall,
BRITISH and Commonwealth heavyweight
champion HORACE NOTICE
will have to travel to Italy for his
challenge to European title holder
FRANCESCO DAMIANI.
THE OCCASION was the 82nd birthday of Mrs Winifred
Green of 10 Garnett Avenue, Warrington. A surprise party
had been arranged at the local Railway Club, and in
attendance were five of her six fighting sons, six daughters,
41 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren,
amounting to over a hundred guests altogether. It was some
party. The local press did a long story and published a
family photo.
