BRITISH and Commonwealth light-middleweight champion
Herol Graham is now a triple-title holder, having been
gifted the vacant European title by another of those absurd
mismatches which have become so commonplace in EBUordered
pairings.
Graham knocked out the inept Belgian-based Zaiorist Clemente
Tshinza in the second of their scheduled 12-rounder,
flooring the 35-year old African three times.
JERRY HOLLY is not one of the world's great
middleweights, but that fact should not diminish the quality
of the performance given by British and Commonwealth
champion Roy Gumbs in dismissing the American in two
explosive rounds at the Bloomsbury Crest Hotel.
NCREDIBLY, for the second time, Mike Dokes
and Mike Weaver left the ring to a storm of controversy
when their rematch for the WBA heavyweight
title ended in a 15-round draw. It was part of the firstever
heavyweight title double-header, staged by Don
King at the Dunes Hotel.
BRITISH featherweight champion Barry McGuigan,
having his first fight since winning the tide, confirmed
his class and promise with a sixth round
stoppage over a dangerous continental opponent in
black Frenchman Samuel Meek.
The referee came in after two mins 58 sees of the
sixth with Meek having suffered a knockdown and
being pounded against the ropes.
