HECTOR "MACHO" CAMACHO merely did the expected
in blowing away veteran Bazooka Limon in five
rounds to win the vacant WBC junior lightweight title in San
Juan.
Limon hadn't fought since being licked — and nearly
knocked out - by Bobby Chacon last December and it was
widely predicted that the slow Mexican would be an easy
target for the sharpshooting New York-Puerto Rican.

SOMETIMES I think it must be the toughest thing in
sports for a fighter to stay retired. The latest to announce his
plans for a comeback is Vito Antuofermo, the battle-scarred
former world middleweight champion whose draw with
Marvin Hagler in 1979 increasingly looks a magnificent
achievement.
Vito, 30, says he still thinks he can beat Hagler, despite
being busted up by Marvin in four rounds in their rematch
two years ago.

THE world title aspirations of Liverpool flyweight Keith Wallace will be put
under the severest scrutiny at Bloomsbury on Thursday by Mexican puncher
Juan 'Monito' Diaz. The 10-rounder is seen by promoter Frank Warren (who
also manages Wallace) as a showcase fight designed to consolidate Keith's high
world ranking (fifth on the WBA list) and strengthen his chances of an early
title shot.

DWIGHT MUHAMMAD QAWI, the former WBC light-heavy
champ, meets his old rival Johnny Davis over 10 rounds at Atlantic
City on September 17.
Promoter Butch Lewis says that if Qawi wins he will match him
in a return bout with Michael Spinks for the world title. It seems
that there are no viable challengers available for Spinks with the
exception of Qawi, the former Dwight Braxton.

LARRY HOLMES, the WBC heavyweight champion, will
fight twice* this year and then defend against official number
one challenger Greg Page early next year.
Holmes has reached an agreement with promoter Don
King that allows him to meet Scott Frank of New Jersey
and then leave the way for him to meet Marvis Frazier on
November 25.

ABA heavyweight champion Horace Notice dropped a
bombshell last weekend by withdrawing from England's
Commonwealth Federation Games team and then announcing
he was turning professional.
Notice, 26, from the Nechells Green club, has been staying
in London with relatives during the close season. He
travelled back to Birmingham to inform his club of his
intentions to fight for pay.

LEICESTER'S Tony Sibson has his first fight since being
stopped by Marvin Hagler for the world middleweight title,
when he meets Chicago's undefeated John Collins in a 10-
rounder to be televised by NBC in the US on October 8. The
venue has yet to be confirmed, the likely site being either
Las Vegas or Atlantic City.
