WARLEY'S Pat Cowdell goes looking for revenge when he challenges Najib
Daho of Manchester for the British super-featherweight title at the Aston Villa
Leisure Centre on Monday (October 26).
Cowdell, a former British and European champion at both 9st and 9st 41bs, is
still bitter about the one round knockout defeat he suffered against Daho in a title
defence in May 1986.

KIRKBY featherweight Paul Hodkinson boosted his
growing reputation by knocking out the Panamanian
Tomas Arguelles after two mins and 40 sees of the sixth of
their scheduled eight-rounds main event at the Ulster Hall.
Hodkinson had previously drawn against Arguelles in
Panama, the only occasion he has failed to win as a
professional. Hodkinson, 22, gave a near-virtuoso performance,
stalking Arguelles from the opening bell and
operating behind a fast and accurate jab.

IT'S a historic occasion at the Las Vegas Hilton next
Thursday (October 29) as Thomas Hearns, the
Detroit Hit Man, shoots to become the first world
boxing champ in four weight divisions.
Greats Henry Armstrong, Alexis Arguello and
Roberto Duran tried and failed.
All three went up in weight. Hearns is coming
down. Having relinquished the World Boxing Council
light-heavyweight title that he won by hammering
Dennis Andries last March, Hearns will have taken
off the best part of 15 pounds when he meets rough,
tough Juan Domingo Roldan for the WBC middleweight
title vacated by old rival Sugar Ray
Leonard.

THAT win scored by Italy's Gianfranco Rosi over Lupe
Aquino to become World Boxing Council light-middle
champ makes Lloyd Honeyghan look terrific.
Honeyghan's third round knockout over Rosi to win the
European welterweight title in January, 1985, now seems a
major achievement.
