Timely Holyfield
EVANDER HOLYFIELD has made changes to his training
routine which he believes will be the key to
victory in Las Vegas on November 13 when he
meets Lennox Lewis in their rematch for the WBC,
WBA and IBF heavyweight titles.
Instead of rising at 5.30am, which has been his
routine for most of his recent fights, Holyfield does
weight training at 11am and goes into the gym
between 9-11pm, which is closer to the time his
body will be required to go to work on the night.
Dodson punished
ADRIAN DODSON received a harsh reprimand from
the Board of Control on Monday.
The Islington southpaw, disqualified for biting
Canadian Alain Bonnamie in the final round of a
vacant Commonwealth middleweight title fight this
month, was fined £1,000 and had his licence suspended
for 18 months.
He was said to have brought the game into
disrepute.
Dodson has 14 days in which to make an appeal.
He said: "Mike Tyson received a one-year sentence
for biting off and spitting out Evander Holyfield's ear.
It's been blown out of all proportion."
AMAZINGLY, Hamed's trainer
Emanuel Steward is still without a
winner in three fights in which 'world'
titles were being unified.
THOMAS HEARNS was stopped by
SUGAR RAY LEONARD for the WBA
and WBC welterweight titles in 1981,
MILTON McCRORY knocked out by
DONALD CURRY for the
WBC/WBA/IBF 10st 7lbs crowns in
1985 and Lewis held to a draw by
Evander Holyfield for the
WBC/WBA/IBF heavyweights belts in
March.
DWAYNE "Tiger" Williams tore after Undra
White as if he was raw meat and handed
him a fierce, two-fisted beating before the
stumpy St. Louis journeyman was rescued at 2-
09 of the fifth at Arrowhead Pond.
"I'm glad they stopped it," said Williams, who
ran his record to 17-3 (13) and delivered his
most impressive win as a pro.
White, who had lasted nine rounds against
Vinny Pazienza at super-middle and beat
Bristol's Dean Francis in Basingstoke last
October when the latter dislocated his shoulder,
was never in it.
