ROBERT MCCRACKEN has gone back to old trainer Pat
Lynch as he prepares for the April 10 showdown with
Howard Eastman at Wembley Conference Centre.
Eastman will be defending his British and Commonwealth
middleweight titles, and the vacant European will
also be on the line.
Both fighters are said to be highly motivated,
McCracken preparing in home city Birmingham again
after parting with American Thel Torrance.

OSCAR DE LA HOYA, who meets ARTURO GATTI in
Las Vegas tomorrow (see page 16), says Naseem
Hamed is the only other fighter he allows in his
house during training camp.
"Everyone knows him," said Oscar. "We're friends. I open my
gym and home to him."
Interesting to note Antonio Diaz, one of Top Rank's fighters, has
been sparring De La Hoya, who split from the same promoters this
year. De La Hoya has also employed Cuban middleweight Julio
Garcia

BUTCH LESLEY, a possible future British light-heavyweight title challenger,
defends his Southern Area belt for the first time against Portmouth's unbeaten
Tony Oakey on the Wembley bill. It is chief support to Hatton v TBA.
Londoner Lesley, whom handlers TBS Promotions feel could beat British and
Commonwealth champion Neil Simpson tomorrow, won the title when gallant Eddie
Knight broke his jaw and couldn't continue in October.
The champion looked good last time out, thrashing Paul Bonson in a six-rounder
at the Elephant. Butch is tall and fast, Oakey chunky and solid. Tony, trained by
Ronnie Davies, hasn't beaten anyone of note in his 10 pro wins - even beat a debutant
last time out - but had a solid amateur career (two-time ABA champ).

TALLAHASSSEE, Florida - March 17: Former WBO heavyweight
champion Henry Akinwande floored Peter McNeeley three
times with smashing right hands, the final time for the count at 2-05
of the second.
McNeeley, who came out to the appropriate tune of Mission
Impossible, had a go - charging at his lanky opponent the way he once
did Mike Tyson - but not even the luck of the Irish could help him on
St Patrick's Day.
