AUDLEY HARRISON'S stop-start career is expected
to begin again in t he N ew Year.
The Olympic super-heavyweight champion, who has been
sidelined with a chest muscle injury, said he will box between
five and eight times in 2002.
This, of course, depends on whether the 30-year-old can stay
clear of more injuries.
NA S E E M HAMED'S longest period of inactivity since
turning pro cannot possibly improve him physically
but could w o r k to t h e Yorkshireman's advantage when
negotiating his next opponent.
Though there are many Hamed critics who believe the former world
featherweight king will not box again, Naz has announced he will return
in March.
By then it will be 11 months since his comprehensive defeat by
Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera.
RICHARD CAPPARELLY, a former soldier
making his pro debut, and NICKY LEECH,
in only his second fight for pay, proved
one didn't need to be a ring veteran to thrill the
fans when they featured in a stamina-testing
spectacle on Pat Brogan's European Sporting
Club show at the Moat House Hotel.
DAZZO WILLIAMS meets MARK ALEXANDER in a lively-looking battle of
unbeaten feathers which is also a rematch from their amateur days.
In February 1998, Williams outpointed Alexander 15-8 in the ABA semi-finals, going
on to win the crown at feather. Dazzo built up a lead he would never concede that night.
Williams is a born-and-bred Londoner who lives in Hereford and fights out of the Dai
Gardiner camp. He was going to meet Belfast's David Lowry on this show, but Gardiner
felt Lowry would come in too heavy.
Alexander, rangy and tricky, can pose plenty of problems, but Williams is also rangy
and carries more power. He should win on points in this six-rounder.

kETER KELLY of Warrington Phoenix and
'Chesterfield's David McClellan deservedly
took the Bout of the Night a w a r d for their
hard-fought light-middleweight scrap on a ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
quality 12-bout dinner show staged by Retford
ABC (near Nottingham) at their local town hall on November 9.
Both dispensed with the jab from the start to crunch home hooks whenever
close. Kelly took centre ring but both were equally keen to exchange hard
shots when in distance.
McClellan landed a cracking left hook at the end of the first but Kelly was
more than willing to return the favour in the second when he landed a peach
of a right hook as his rival advanced.
