NIGEL BENN will no longer train his beloved cousins
PAUL and MICHAEL BOWEN.
He has agonised over the decision, ringing BN to say: "This
training lark's not for me. I had so much passion for it - cooked
for my cousins and everything - but realised if I wanted to get
them to the top I'd have to devote so much of my time.
"That's something I'm just not prepared to do - 1 don't even
like leaving my wife's side for an hour. It's got to be all or nothing."
Benn got quite emotional, saying he truly wanted the Bowens
[who come from the mum's side of the family] to succeed and
felt they could if as dedicated as he was.
But he feared they were not prepared to put in the hard
work.

IT'S back to basics for light-heavyweight
NEIL SIMPSON.
The 30-year-old British and Commonwealth champion
from Willenhall in Coventry was recovering at home this
week after his vacant European title bid against Yawe
Davis in Italy ended in failure - and some controversy.
Referee Daniel Van De Wiele stopped the fight abruptly in
the third after Simpson had climbed up from a brief trip to
the canvas.

ACTIVITY, or lack of it, may be the deciding factor in tomorrow's first semi-final
between BERNARD HOPKINS and KEITH HOLMES.
Southpaw Holmes has not fought since stopping Robert McCracken at Wembley
a year ago, since when Hopkins has boxed twice - wins over Syd Vanderpool (pts 12
in May) and Antwun Echols (rsf 10 in December).
