UNDEFEATED middleweight KELLY PAVLIK, from the Ray "Boom
Boom" Mancini town of Youngstown, Ohio, advanced to 10-0 (all
inside schedule) by halting Mexican southpaw MARIO LOPEZ in the
second of a scheduled four.
Tall and rangy, Pavlik took a minute or so to find his timing. Lopez had
him missing with rights and hooks before a right to the top of the head
made the Mexicali man touch down briefly in the first.
Lopez (11st 4lbs) took most of the mandatory eight from referee Tony
Weeks standing, but was hurt again immediately. He refused to fold,
however.
