LEGENDARY trainer Emanuel Steward has always
had an affinity with Britain. One of his dreams
comes true next Tuesday (February 6) when Kronk
Boxing Limited is formally announced at the new
Kronk Gym in London's Kentish Town.
Steward will be in attendance at a Press conference
followed by an invitation-only party to launch the
gym. It is possible Thomas Heams and Marvin
Hagler will be in attendance.
FOREST HILL middleweight SPENCER FEARON (11st 7lbs) suffered a setback when outpointed
over four by JASON COLLINS of Walsall on the Johnny Nelson show, writes CLAUDE ABRAMS.
Ref Mark Green had Collins the winner by 40-37, but I saw it completely differently, with Fearon ahead.
Obviously, it was a matter of interpretation. Collins, remarkably strong, was the aggressor from first
bell to last and never gave Fearon a moment's peace. But Spencer landed the cleaner punches for me,
admittedly in short bursts, while most of Jason's attacks lacked quality and struck arms or gloves.
WHAT goes around comes around. More than 10
years since the last unification match in the lightwelter
division comes another, again in Las Vegas
and featuring a predator, Aussie KOSTYA TSZYU, against a
boxer, SHARMBA MITCHELL
DELROY LESLIE'S loss is Australian IAN McLEOD'S gain
as the latter challenges south Londoner HOWARD
EASTMAN for his Commonwealth middleweight title at
Hull City Hall on Monday night (February 5).
