THE sheer strength and determination of Dennis Andries proved too much for
Liam Coleman who was overwhelmed and stopped in the sixth of eight (threeminute)
rounds at the Adulte Ballroom.
Coleman, a substitute for stablemate Tom Collins (who was withdrawn from a
scheduled final eliminator with Andries after a medical examination showed up a
possible blood disorder), operated mainly on the retreat, circling the ring and
bursting forward occasionally to fire in jabs or left hooks to the body.

SUGAR RAY LEONARD, boxing's all-time big winner, talks unconvincingly
of retirement after a victory which boosted his career gross
to a staggering $50 million and made him the world's first undisputed
welterweight champion since Jose Napoles in 1975.
Loser Tommy Hearns, his aura of invincibility shattered by a
stoppage defeat in 1:45 of the 14th round of a fight which (according to
the three official scorecards) he had only to survive to win, has already
started pushing for a rematch.
