HEROL GRAHAM bids to continue his steady - almost unnoticed — climb
through the world rankings by taking the Commonwealth light-middleweight title
from Kenny Bristol on Wednesday.
It's a sensible step for the talented British champion, assured of huge support in
front of his own fans at Sheffield Civic Hall.
Bristol, from Guyana, isn't considered a big hitter, though his cagey, counterpunching
style could frustrate the 22-year-old challenger.

ANDRIES keeps himself in the British

THE Republic of Ireland has been something of a graveyard
for professional boxing over the years. Not even Charlie
Nash's European lightweight title fight with Joey Gibilisco,
at the Dalymount Park soccer ground in Dublin last May,
could avoid the jinx — with only around 2,000 people
turning up in an arena geared to hold 40,000.
IT LOOKS as if newly crowned WBA light-middleweight
king Tadashi Mihara has a formidable task on his hands, if
he decides to give former champion Ayub Kalule a chance
to regain his old title.
FLOORED in the first round, Aaron Pryor came roaring
back to hammer Dujuan Johnson to defeat in the seventh
round of their fight at the Public Auditorium to make his
third successful defence of his WBA light-welterweight title.
The 26-year-old Pryor scored his 29th successive win, 27
stopped or kayoed while 20-year-old Johnson lost for the
first time after winning 17 in a row.
