WBA featherweight champ Barry McGuigan, is a
legalised bookmaker in Belfast. Taking wagers is

ALEXIS ARGUELLO showed that he's still got his punch
in last month's comeback win over Pat Jefferson way up
north at Anchorage, Alaska. And for a fighter of 33 who'd
been away for two years, he didn't look bad at all.
Jefferson wasn't a mug. A good boxer and mover, though

lost what many consider an unlucky decision to Cubanito
Perez on the Hagler-Hearns bill.
CUS D ' A M A T O , the renegade manager who battled
boxing's establishment in the 1950s but still guided Floyd
Patterson to t h e world heavyweight title and a place in the
record books as the youngest-ever heavyweight champion,
died of pneumonia in a New York hospital last week. He
was 77.

(Fairbairn House). Their Class C quarter-final was eventually
won on points by Grainger.
