KEITH BRISTOL of Clapham scored the
best win of his comeback by outpointing
Southend's John Moody over 10 exciting
rounds in the main event on Greg Steene and
Harry Holland's joint Saturday afternoon
promotion at the Porchester Hall.
It was an excellent fight with Bristol's
mobility and toughness proving too much for
the strong but crude Moody.
JIMMY CABLE finally gets to defend his British lightmiddleweight
title against his official challenger and former
unbeaten champion Prince Rodney at the Pier Pavilion, Hastings,
tommorrow
HAROLD HYLTON blasted out the quickest win of the
night at Wembley Arena to take his second ABA
heavyweight title in three appearances in the finals,
sponsored once again by George Wimpey.
Hylton, from the Viking club, took just 22 seconds to
demolish Bobby Parkes of Repton — and that included
the count, which the referee completed with Parkes
upright but unsteady.
Hylton's victory, one of the fastest on record, came
when he floored Parkes with a left hook and following
right. From our ringside vantage point it looked as though
just two punches were thrown, but television disproved
that.
SCOTLAND have been dealt a blow by the withdrawal of
Pat Clinton from their European Championship side.
ABA flyweight champion Clinton has been forced to
opt out of the Budapest event so he can take his City and
Guilds examinations.
