MANAGER Barney Eastwood, his promoter son Stephen, and their
international agent Mickey Duff have done their bit by persuading
WBA featherweight champion Eusebio Pedroza to risk his title in
London, on an Eastwood promotion, against Irish star Barry
McGuigan in the Summer. The rest is up to Barry — and he's hoping
that the date and venue are soon finalised. See page 24

THERE WAS so much poundage parading in Las Vegas
we feared a landslide. Larry Holmes, nicknamed Big Jack,
rightly headed the cast of David Bey, Mike Dokes, Randy
Cobb, Bonecrusher Smith and Tony Tubbs.
Among the onlookers were Pinklon Thomas, Mike
Weaver, Greg Page and James Broad. The Daddy of them
all, Ali, was also in town but was surprisingly flown out
hours before Holmes's farewell to keep a promised
engagement in New York.

LARRY HOLMES extended his unbeaten run to 47 with his
tenth round stoppage of challenger David Bey. Speculation
persists that he will try to equal Rocky Marciano's record of
49 straight wins.

WBA welter champion Donald Curry made his lightmiddle
debut with a controversial and unsatisfactory win
in the second round over the stocky, muscled James
"Hard Rock" Green of New Jersey.
Texas referee Dick Cole stopped the bout after 48
seconds of round two with Green complaining he'd been
thumbed in the eye.

IT HAS BEEN a period of mixed fortunes for the Hilton
clan. Middleweight Alex lost his unbeaten record to a
supposedly washed-up Carlos Betancourt, and Matthew
burst into the world ratings with a win over Francisco De
Jesus.
The good and bad continued with dad David completing
a promotional deal with Don King, which could earn the
boys some big money, Alex getting himself in trouble with
the law, and Dave Jnr. being stripped of his Canadian
welterweight title.
