THE day after: Ricky Hatton,
on five hours' sleep, after 16
Guinnesses and a long party into
the night, stepped out into the
lounge of his suite at Caesars Palace
wearing just a towel around his trim waist.
Waiting for the bleary-eyed light-welter
were the British press.
Hatton, engaging as ever, took a seat in a
comfy armchair, positioned like a throne, and
fielded questions for over an hour. He could
have talked and talked. There was no stopping
him, as Jose Luis Castillo had discovered about
16 hours earlier.

NEVADA'S former IBF cruiserweight
champion Kelvin "Koncrete" Davis
was seriously injured in Auckland this
week while getting ready to fight Shane
Cameron.
Bizarrely, Davis, during morning
roadwork, jumped off a narrow bridge
when htf was spooked by traffic. It
seems that the traffic was "driving
the wrong way" disorientated him.
He fell 25ft on to rocks, suffering
both a broken neck and back.

LUCKLESS bantamweight MARTIN
POWER has had to give up the
British title with a shoulder
problem.
IAN NAPA and JASON BOOTH
now fight for it in Wigan next
week (July 6).
It's a great chance for Booth
to get back to where he once
belonged... he once beat Napa
for the British flyweight title.
Power will likely fight the winner.

SULTAN IBRAGIMOV and Ruslan
Chagaev will meet in a unification
heavyweight bout in Moscow.
The bout will be confirmed at
a press conference later this week.
It will be the first-ever 'world'
heavyweight title clash of southpaws
and first unification clash between
European-born fighters.
Ibragimov (far left) holds the WBO
belt, Chagaev (left) the WBA.
Seminole Warriors and Universtim
will co-promote.

BERNARD DUNNE'S mandatory
challenger Kiko Martinez of Spain
will get support f r om an unlikely
source ahead of their European
super-bantamweight title fight.
The unbeaten Spaniard has put
pen to paper on a deal w i t h Belfast's
Pat Magee, who in t u r n has brought
in promoter Dennis Hobson.
