FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Ricky
Hatton have been going head-to-head
this week at a series of press
conferences.
The boxers have been in LA and
Michigan (where Mayweather is from)
before moving on to the UK, making
stops in Manchester and London.
The fight at the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas on December 8 sold out in
around half-an-hour, leaving
thousands of Hatton supporters
disappointed.
PROMOTER Wally Dixon said last
Saturday's show in Preston was
cancelled because the star
attraction, WBU welterweight
champion MICHAEL JENNINGS, was
suffering with a virus.
He said he didn't want the show
to go ahead without Jennings.
The bill has been rescheduled
for Friday, September 28. Jennings
still tops against V0L0DYMYR
KH0D0K0VSKI. Unbeaten
featherweight RHYS ROBERTS has
been added to the bill.
JONATHON THAXTON'S British
lightweight title defence against
promotional stablemate DAVE
STEWART on October 5 now takes
place at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
DARREN BARKER returns on the
Hennessy Sports show, while
making his pro debut is lightmiddleweight
DANIEL HERDMAN, a
former England amateur with
Repton.
JOEL CASAMAYOR is back with old
trainer Joe Goossen as he
prepares to defend the WBC
Interim lightweight title against
JOSE ARMANDO SANTA CRUZ at
New York's Madison Square
Garden on November 10.
Casamayor and Goossen split
several years ago before the
second Casamayor-Diego Corrales
fight. Goossen switched to
Corrales' camp and scored a win
over the Cuban.
